on the champs, the detroit tigers. the first two games will be played in detroit. game 1 is set for tomorrow and game 2 sunday at 9:00 a.m. our time. game 3 is in oakland on tuesday, and game 4 and 5, if necessary, will be in oakland. tomorrow's giants game is one of several events to draw one million people to san francisco this weekend. the blue angels spent this weekend practicing for tomorrow and sunday. and the harley strikely blue grass festival. the 49ers play at candlestick park on sunday and several street festivals are scheduled including the italian heritage parade and the castro street fair. anyone heading to the city should plan ahead. >> it will not be available. there will be a lot of people on the roads causing traffic delays. >> transportation officials say they will be add trains, buses and ferries to get the people

around town. you can go to ktvu.com to read more, click on the weekend extra tab right there on our home page. the authorities in hayward say a police officer fired on a suspected car theft today. the shooting happened at 11:30 a.m. near tree view elementary. according to the police, the police officer approached a parked car with the suspect in the driver's seat. the officer says the suspect refused to commy with the officer's demands -- comply with the officer's demands. he had what appeared to be a weapon. >> the officer fearing that the suspect was arming himself was forced to use lethal force. >> later, the police said there was a weapon in the car within reach. the authorities have not said what type of weapon it was. the name of the suspect has not been released. >> new at 7:00. the call for a firing of the oakland police chief administrator over the death of an 18-year-old who was shot and killed by oakland police. today, the attorney for the man's family demanded justice days after part of the police

report was released. >> we need a police chief who is strong, who is willing to discipline the rogue cops. >> he is calling on district attorney to prosecute the police officer who shot and killed him. there is word tonight of possible arrests in the attack in libya that killed u.s. ambassador chris stevens. two suspected were detained. they tried to enter turkey with fake passports. so far the authorities have not confirmed the report. stevens was one of four americans who died this september 11th in an attack. >> it happened somewhere in

notes are the most compelling evidence that we have of the student reporting the situation. >> now, we tried contacting the attorney for the principal but have not heard back. they take the allegation seriously and cooperating fulliy with law enforcement. investigators are looking into what caused a car crash that killed a driver today. it happened before 11:00 from interstate 880 to highway 237. the driver of the toyota crashed into a concrete divider and the car burst into flames. the driver died at the scene. continuing coverage, now, of the spike in bay area prices that went from bad to worse just overnight. in fact, since yesterday prices at the pump jumped nearly 20 cents here in california. industry analysts say several

factors are to blame including the fire at chevron's richmond refinery and the shutdown of a pipeline into the bay area. according to triple a the average for regular unleaded gas hit $4.52. >> in san jose it is $4.54. it reached $4.60 in san francisco. as you can imagine the prices are making many bay area drivers extremely frusterated. >> every time it goes down refinery blows up and jack it back up again. it is is like it is on purpose or something. >> too high, too much, too much! >> the prices are taking a toll on small businesses that use a lot of gasoline. the businesses such as food truck operators saying they run on tight margins so it is hurting the bottom line. today the bay -- today the bay average hit $4.54. that is a jump of 30 cents since last week.

the average a year ago was $3.80. $70 cents a gallon cheaper than today. new numbers show our unemployment rate fell. the jobless rate slid to 7.8% last month. that is the first time it has gone below 8% since january of 2009. the report shows payrolls increase by 114,000 with private companies adding 104,000 jobs. republican presidential nominee mitt romney was quick to jump on today's jobs reports saying the numbers of deceptive. >> the truth is, if the same share of people were participating in the workforce today is on the day that the president got elected our rate would be around 11%. >> at a virginia rally today he told voters the rate drops because people have stopped looking for work. meanwhile, president barack obama focused on the positive. >> today's news should give us some encouragement. it should not be an excuse for

firefighters to put out this fire this morning. three fire trucks showed up and firefighters were able to keep the flames from spreading. attorneying representing the plaintiff in the oakland rider filed a motion requests the oakland police department be under receivership. they say the department has refused to implement reforms that were ordered by a court a decade ago. the city of oakland is expected to fight the request. they have until december to talk about the motion. a sexting investigation is underway. they are questioning parents and students about photos. visitors visited two mill valley schools just this week. >> reporter: students we will not identify. >> there is a message on my phone. it was a blocked message. i was like -- it was junk. >> reporter: the principal of the middle school wrote to parents last week about quote inappropriate and provocative photos known as sexting of
